How to Run Again in Wow

"Why walk when you can run."
— Every Non-Roleplayer

Globe of Warcraft includes two default movement speeds, which can be toggled using the NUM PAD "/" button:

  1. Run (7 yards or meters per second) – Considered the default motility speed as all characters are created set up to this speed.
  2. Walk (2.5 yd or m/sec, 35.7% of run speed) – Confers no other in game effects, and hence only used for roleplaying or precision, such as positioning 1'south cocky without falling off a cliff. While walking is enabled, basis mounts and grounded flying mounts volition move at walk speed as well.
  • Takes v.71 seconds to run xl yards/xl meters at 100% speed, 40/5.71 = 7 yd/s.
  • Takes 16 seconds to walk 40 yards/40 meters, 40/16 = ii.5 yd/sec.
  • You will run across yards or meters depending on your game client'south locale. enUS will use "yards", other locals will use "meters". These are the same unit, namely 1.0 map units.

Increasing movement speed

Run and Mounted speeds tin can be increased using buffs, enchants, and items. See Motion speed furnishings for a consummate list of means increase move speed.

Traversing Azeroth

Some fun information regarding the in-game size of some of the continents!

Eastern Kingdoms

If flying in a straight line from the Wild Shore in Stranglethorn Vale with Master Riding (310% flying speed), information technology takes (give or take) ~17 minutes and 41 seconds to reach Sunstrider Isle. However, flight is prohibited in Ghostlands and Eversong Woods.

This ways, in the game, the Eastern Kingdoms continent is only around (excluding Quel'Danas) 26,312 yards long (24 kilometers). To put that in perspective, Africa is ~viii,000 kilometers in length.

Thus, the Eastern Kingdoms (in-game) is a whopping... 0.003% of Africa'southward entire length.

Kalimdor

If flight in a straight line from the balcony in Neferset City in Uldum with Main Riding (310% flying speed), information technology takes (give or take) ~16 minutes and 58 seconds to attain Frostsaber Stone in Winterspring. However, Teldrassil is not a part of the continent, and is thus excluded.

This means, in the game, the Kalimdor continent is only effectually (excluding Teldrassil) 25,246 yards long (23 kilometers). To put that in perspective, Africa is ~viii,000 kilometers in length.

Thus, Kalimdor (in-game) is a whopping... 0.0028% of Africa's unabridged length.

Decreasing motility speed

Run and Mounted speeds can be decreased by attacks and debuffs. Come across Movement speed furnishings for a consummate listing of means to subtract a target'due south movement speed.

All mobs have a chance when attacking a player from behind to [Dazed] that player. This will apply a speed reduction debuff, and more than chiefly dismount the role player if they are mounted.

Stupor chance depends on level.

  1. Gray mobs (five-10+ levels beneath player) having a 0% take a chance.
  2. Green mobs (4-nine levels below histrion) having a 10% chance.
  3. Yellow mobs (2 levels in a higher place/below role player) having a twenty% chance.
  4. Orange mobs (3-4 levels to a higher place player) having a xxx% chance.
  5. Red mobs (4+ levels higher up player) having a xl% chance.

Measurement

The speed is no longer shown in your character contour window as of Patch 7.0.i Legion without the use of an addon such every bit DejaCharacterStats. Although it can still be measured by macros (for case with /run print(GetUnitSpeed("target") / 7 * 100); -control) and addons (such every bit MonkeySpeed).
